Kirk Franklin
63
An American and Gospel singer…but did you know he was a choir director and an author…I didn't know that at all. Something you learn everyday eh?
He loves the Lord and knows how to get his music into action. His music is like reading a book but different. You are singing along. Songs may have a subject that you go with and so he tries to encourage you with his songs. He always puts Jesus in it. He makes the music stand out and you have fun listening to it.
He was born in January 26 of 1970 which he will be turning 41. Wild. I thought he was only in his 30s…anyways.
He has been in a very different background. His mother abandoned him as a baby and so his great aunt raised him. His aunt (Gertrude) got him to take piano lessons at the age of 4. Many kids do start out pretty young. That would be awesome. God given us a passion to do something…even to a 4 year old.
A very young age, he first received his contract at the age of 7, but his aunt turned it down. Since that happened, he joined the choir at the church and became a choir director at a Baptist Church. But get this it was a Adult Choir when he was 11 years old. Pretty awesome to start young in singing and even was allowed to get into a choir…
But unfortunately, Kirk started to be rebellious and with some teens out there. His aunt didn’t want to see him go down hill and so to keep him out of trouble, put him at an audition for a professional youth conservatory associated to put him in a local university. As though Kirk went through struggling times, his aunt wanted him to pursue something special that God gave him. Singing.
I have a passion to write and started writing in grade 11. I loved to write stories young but I never thought today I would be writing stories and someday novels as a living.
Anyways…
Kirk Franklin is awesome, and when I look at what he has done I truly see that God changed him to the music industry. It's awesome how God can change someone in an instant. Yes, the Lord is awesome and nothing is impossible with him.
I encourage you to listen to Kirk. Some songs may feel they are towards you but just remember, someone is out there waiting for you and has his arms wide open.
Jesus is calling you, will you accept him?
CDs
I never got his CD's but I have listened to them on YouTube. He has very upbeat music that is you can't help but dance and sing along.
